Winter months often bring along misery to many of the township’s children and their families through shack fires. The fire safety programmes help to raise their awareness on safety measures.

They conducted one awareness session at the Altrec sports complex for Grades 4 – 9 children attending a winter holiday programme. The children learnt how to operate fire extinguishers, components of the fire trucks, and how to handle flammable material such as clothing and oils when next to fires.
