Fun theatre holiday camp trains children

JOBURG - Theatre-loving children in Alexandra have been urged to take advantage of the National Children's Theatre's winter holiday programme to sharpen their skills in performing arts.

Theatre-loving children in Alexandra have been urged to take advantage of the National Children’s Theatre’s winter holiday programme to sharpen their skills in performing arts.

The camp runs from 30 June to 4 July at the National Children’s Theatre in Parktown, Johannesburg, and aspiring actors and actresses are encouraged to come and immerse themselves in the arts and cultivate their passion while unleashing their creativity. And for those already involved, they can brush up their skills as they sing, dance and act in a fun-filled way.

The campers develop skills in creative problem solving, communication, self-discipline and empathy; and are also encouraged to become active pupils and engage with and experience a vast range of ideas and situations in a safe and supportive atmosphere.

It also gives them an outlet for emotions, thoughts and dreams they might not otherwise have a means to express. This is the way to advance theatre as a means of educating,

challenging and inspiring the campers, said a statement from the organisers.

There will be rotating classes in dance, singing, speech and drama with qualified specialist instructors involving a variety of aspects of performance.
