ALEXANDRA - Six gymnasts from the Alexandra Trampoline Club have been selected to represent South Africa at the 2014 Indo Pacific Championships.
Six gymnasts of the Alexandra Trampoline Club have been selected to represent South Africa at the 2014 Indo Pacific Championships.
Among the countries included in the Indo Pacific Championships to be held at Sun City from 29 June to 5 July are Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Japan, Mexico, Namibia, New Zealand, Qatar, and the United States of America.
As the competition is self-funding, selected gymnasts will need to raise funds to pay their own costs, which includes accommodation, transport, competition attire and entry fees of R12 000 per gymnast.
The South African Gymnastics Federation has appealed for any financial help to enable the talented gymnasts to participate and represent South Africa. “We appeal to various companies and individuals who may be in a position to assist these talented gymnasts with sponsorship to come forward,” said federation president Helen van der Walt.
“It will be very disappointing if lack of funds prevent these talented gymnasts from competing in their own country,” said Alex Trampoline Club co-ordinator Glenda Schmidt.
