Woman dragged into bushes and raped

ALEXANDRA - A woman's wild screams failed to save her from the clutches of two rapists who dragged her to a nearby bush and raped her.

A woman’s screams failed to save her from the clutches of two rapists who dragged her to nearby bushes and raped her.

The 26-year-old woman said she was walking along Thoko Mngoma Street in the Far Eastbank area of Alexandra at about 3am when she noticed two men walking briskly towards her.

Sensing there could be trouble, she ran into the yard of the closest house and hid there. Thinking the men had gone she started to walk to her house in the adjacent street.

Before long she noticed the same men running towards her and they dragged her into nearby bushes. She screamed in the hope that the assailants would leave her alone or neighbours would hear her screams and come to her aid.

The men ignored her screams, forcefully undressed her and raped her. They then ran off and disappeared in the darkness.

Alex police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said no arrests had been made and the police were still investigating.
