A 32-year-old woman was arrested for allegedly assaulting her boyfriend.
The incident happened in Fourth Avenue about 10pm on 18 January.
Police spokesperson Moses Maphakale said, “The complainant was at home with his girlfriend and his one-year-old child. The girlfriend went out and left him with the child. After some time he went to look for her.”
Maphakela said the complainant claimed he found his girlfriend in a shebeen drinking beer with another man.
“She allegedly hit him [the boyfriend] with a beer bottle and hit him with a brick on the chest.”
The complainant sustained serious injuries and was treated at a local clinic. The suspect appeared in the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court.
