Mad, decent party on the square

Mary Fitzgerald Square will soon host scores of partygoers who’ll stomp their feet to the tunes of world-renowned US DJ acts Major Lazer, Dillon Francis and Flosstradamus.

The event marks the first time an official Mad Decent Block Party has left North American shores, and thanks to sponsors Olmeca Tequila, revelers can expect dancing in the streets until well into the night.

Speaking on behalf of the organisers Lerato Sengadi said, “Expect nothing less than a fully-fledged live show from Major Lazer, including Diplo’s iconic hamster ball, professional twerkers, dancers, sprinklers, mascots, ridiculous amounts of energy, and some wild surprises.”

Supported by American moombathon artist Paul Devro and local music heavyweights Das Kapital and Sibot & Toyota, the event is set to be nothing short of uninhibited, street-style fun with a South African twist.

Speaking about the line-up Sengadi said, “Liver will get the crowd warmed up, and the king of drum and bass, Niskerone will play the closing set following Major Lazer. “In the spirit of a traditional urban block party, there will will be food trucks serving everything from boerie rolls to shisi nyama.”
