Local league to bring back diski excitement

ALEXANDRA - Resumption of the local football league will bring back the township excitement that goes with the flair of the beautiful game.

Action in the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association is set to return when the league resumes on the weekend of 18 January.

Adding spice to flavour the creative play of Alex’s future talent will also be the resumption of the popular South African Football Association Second Division league, which is popularly known as the SSD league, in which two of Alexandra’s giants, Alfred Maimane Phiri’s FC Alexandra and Alex United, will appear.

The South African Football Association’s promotional leagues and the Alexandra Association’s junior leagues start on 1 February.

“All junior clubs are reminded to start preparing for the resumption of the leagues so that everything will run smoothly,” said the secretary general of association, Mafika Morajane.

Morajane said his association will present trophies and medals to the winners of the junior leagues in the various categories from the U13s right up to the U20s. The trophies and medals will be handed out at the Alexandra Stadium on 18 January.

The recipients are as follows: U13 Mighty Heroes FC and Black Poison, U15 Brothers Development FC and Gunners FC, U17 Alex Junior City FC and Howza De Laz FC, and the U20 Alex Junior City and Moroka Lions FC.
