Charity brings magic to child headed family

ALEXANDRA - Charity organisation visited a child headed family to see what difference they could make in their lives.

Magical Moments, a small charity organisation paid a visit to a child-headed family in Alexandra to ascertain what their needs were.

The oldest child in the family of six is 15 years old while the youngest is one. The family has been surviving on hand-outs from neighbours since the passing of their mother in 2012.

Founder of the organisation, Elana Friedman said they wanted to assess the family’s situation to see where they could help, without making any promises. She said “A Magical Moments we believe in children experiencing the most magical moments.”

Friedman added that the way the family lived, limited them in terms of dreaming. “They cannot dream big because of their situation and we want them to have moments that they will look back at and smile,” she said.

The organisation has volunteers called fairies and Friedman is the ‘fairy godmother’. “We add magic to the lives of children and our main purpose is to put a smile on their faces,” Friedman said.
