Social dialogue workshop in Alex

ALEXANDRA - Its all systems go for the social dialogue conference taking place at Alex High School on 7 September.

The social dialogue conference, which is organised by a group called TEDxAlexandra which is part of a global brand based in the United States, takes place at Alex High School on 7 September.

The workshop is part of efforts by Waahida Tolbert-Mbatha and her husband, Thulani, to get the residents of Alexandra to talk about the various social ills plaguing the township.

Tolbert-Mbatha, an American married to an Alex man, is also behind the proposed establishment of a world-class school in Alexandra in 2015 to be known as Kgololo Academy. She is currently back in the US to raise funds for the establishment of the school through her Khulula Foundation and will be returning to South Africa in November.

Organisers of the conference Daniel Adidwa and Xoliswa Moraka of TEDxAlexandra said the conference would go ahead as scheduled. “It’s all systems go for the conference on Saturday and we look forward to getting the people of Alexandra talking,” said Moraka, who added that top speakers, among them iconic philanthropist and community worker, Linda Twala, have been lined up.
