Takalani to educate children

JOBURG - Children across South Africa can look forward to engaging their Takalani friends while learning valuable lessons at the same time.

Efforts to improve early learning and development in South Africa has received a significant boost.

This follows the announcement that five years of brand new television, radio, digital and mobile content of the award-winning children’s programme, Takalani Sesame, will debut in September.

This is a partnership between Sesame Workshop, the non-profit educational organisation behind Sesame Street, the Department of Basic Education, Sanlam, SABC and producers of the show, Kwasukasukela.

The series will air every weekday on the various channels of the public broadcaster in the mornings. The content will build on Takalani Sesame’s 12 years of delighting and engaging children with the help of friends like Kami, Zikwe, Zuzu, Moshe and Neno, through covering educational domains of literacy and languages, mathematics, and life-skills. Takalani, which is Venda for happiness, conveys the spirit of happiness and innocence.
