The Grade R pupils of Emfundisweni Primary School will cherish 18 July 2013 for a very long time to come.

They will remember that day when they had the opportunity to mingle, play, read books and share their small desks with top executives of Nedbank, Mercedes Benz, Nike and Dermalogica to commemorate Mandela Day.

The organisations were at the school to revamp and paint mobile classrooms, and to spend time gardening, reading and playing with the Grade R pupils.

“Nedbank formed strategic partnerships with various organisations to ensure that we make this year’s the best for Mandela Day yet.

“Protecting and creating a better world for the children is very close to our hearts,” said Kone Gugushe, Nedbank’s divisional executive for corporate social responsibility.

Throughout the month of July, Nedbank will be implementing a number of staff volunteer programmes and projects focusing on health, education, children’s welfare and community development across the country to reaffirm the bank’s commitment towards community upliftment.

In the past two weeks, the Itlhokomeleng Home For The Aged, and the Alexandra Child Care and Support Centre welcomed volunteers who painted the centres and spent time doing gardening with the inhabitants.
