KwaBhekilanga Secondary School matric class of 2019 achieves 92.85 percent pass mark

FAR EAST BANK– Makwela appealed to those parents who were still lagging behind in collaborating with educators in helping learners achieve good results.

KwaBhekilanga Secondary School continued to be the headlight of Alexandra schools after it achieved a stunning 92.85 per cent matric pass rate in the 2019 academic year.

Out of the 179 learners who sat for last year’s matric examinations in October/November, 96 learners attained bachelor’s degree passes, 48 learners bagged a diploma pass mark and a dozen achieved higher certificates.

David Makwela, the deputy principal at the school that has been at the top of the Alexandra schools list for seven consecutive years, said the 92.85 per cent attained was the result of the commitment from the beginning of the year of the teachers, learners and parents.

“Our success can be attributed to our hard-working teachers, parents and learners who have made it a culture of our school to stand out from the rest,” he said. “We utilise weekends and holidays to ensure that every learner grasps what they could not during the normal period.

“Our school has developed a culture of not accepting less than what is expected of us. High levels of discipline and respect of others are some of the requirements that our learners need to develop to achieve their academic goals.”

Makwela appealed to those parents who were still lagging behind in collaborating with teachers in helping learners achieve good academic results.

“We are calling upon all parents to come to the party in the teaching and learning process of their children. This culture of dumping children at school must come to an end. Parents need to know how their children perform at school. They must not wait until there is a problem with a learner’s performance at school in order to come on board.”

He added that the school was aiming at a 100 per cent pass mark in the years to come which is something that none of the other Alexandra schools has achieved.
