Bluebirds’ blues nearly over

BALFOUR -– Birds coach expresses delight that the'nightmarish' season is nearly over.

Bluebirds coach Malvin Khumalo will be happy to see the back of this year’s Sasol Women’s League.

“We may have lost this derby match [against Croesus Ladies) but I am happy the nightmarish season is finally coming to a close,” said Khumalo when interviewed by Alex News after their third last game of the season.

Croesus Ladies kept their title hopes alive when they beat the Alex outfit 2–1 at Northview High School on 27 October.

The Greek Queens overcame the Beautiful Birds who have struggled most of the season and only picked up form lately after the former captain of the team Nyatama Mnguni returned to the nest.

The Birds mentor blamed the late start of the game as having played mind games on his players. “The players lost focus as they warmed up, sat down and later collected their bags in anticipation of going away only to see the referee arrive more than an hour late.

“There is not much to complain about as it has been a nightmarish season for us but I am glad it is finally coming to a close with us safely tucked away in our nest for the next season.”

Banyana baMalvin, as the Birds are often referred to in Alex, have only two games in hand before the season comes to a close. They play against JVW Ladies next and then Zebra Forces at home.

Greek Queens coach Daniel Tshidi was happy to have collected maximum points to keep ‘my title hope very much alive’.
