What would YOU do with R14 million?

JOBURG – We decided to ask around...

A National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) student hit the jackpot recently. What would you have done if R14 million was mistakenly deposited into your account?

KHANYISA HOVENI-MAPHUTHA – I would go to the bank and tell them to reverse it. I would probably discover that it wasn’t for me.

ELANDRE FRANCK – I would take the money, invest it and retire early and live off the interest.

TAPIWA VIRIMA – The temptation to use it is great but I would contact the authorities in the hope that they would give me something because I was honest.

SALLY COULTER – That happened to me before and I reported it to the bank. They researched the matter and gave the money back to the right person. It is tempting, but I would give it back.

MTUTUZELI MVUNYISWA – I would consult the bank and tell the bank manager that the money was there. It’s not my money, so I won’t spend it.

KENNY VAN DER VELDE – I would tell someone. I know it would not have been mine to keep.

LMATSEDISO MALIMABE – I would send an email and inquire with NSFAS. Even if you spend the money, you would be liable to give it back. It is not your money.

PHIL HENNING – I would spend it on a good holiday in Europe.

MOUHAU LEHOKO – I would not touch the money for seven days but also not enquire about it, but wait for them to contact me. Then if they haven’t contacted me, I would take half of it and put it into a children’s fund and the rest would be transferred into random accounts.
