2016 OFFICIAL OPENING OF THE GAUTENG PROVINCIAL LEGISLATURE.

Honourable Speaker of the Gauteng Legislature Ntombi Mekgwe, will preside over the Official Opening of the Third Session of the Fifth
Legislature where Honourable Premier David Makhura will deliver an address on the State of the Province (SOPA). The Premier’s SOPA
provides an opportunity for the Premier to account for the commitment made last year and spell out Gauteng Provincial Government’s
plan of action and service delivery priorities for the year 2016 and beyond – as mandated by Gauteng citizens.
GPL has constitutional mandates to make Provincial laws, facilitate involvement of the people in all its processes, and oversee the work
of Gauteng Provincial Government to ensure service delivery aimed at improving the quality of life of the Gauteng people. SOPA sets
GPL’s oversight agenda, to be carried out by Committees of the House throughout the year.
