My son is a drug addict, says Joburg East District education director Mnyamezeli Ndevu.

ALEXANDRA - Joburg East District director, Mnyamezeli Ndevu says his drug addict son has stolen everything in the house to feed his habit.

The Gauteng Department of Education’s Johannesburg East District director, Mnyamezeli Ndevu startled attendees of a meeting who had gathered to discuss forming a forum to tackle education problems in Alexandra when he disclosed that his son was a drug addict.

Speaking during his address, Ndevu said those who were crying foul about the abundance of drugs in the township and how it was ravaging their children were not alone in this predicament.

“I have a son who is a drug addict and he has stolen everything in the house that he can lay his hands on, including my 15 suits and seven pairs of shoes. I have nothing and what you see me wearing are borrowed suits and shoes,” he said.

Ndevu said his son was due to appear in court on 31 March. “We all need to stand together as parents and stakeholders to address and tackle this devilish revolution of drugs before it destroys us all in this country.”
