Hijackers disappear in delivery truck

ALEXANDRA – Shop owner robbed of money and loses loaded bakkie to hijackers.

Alex police are investigating the hijacking of a Nissan bakkie on 8 November from its 32-year-old owner on 9th Avenue.

Police spokesperson Captain Allie Kodisang, said the victim from Mayfair was delivering stock to his shop and that of his brother in the township when he was hijacked. A Toyota Avanza allegedly passed and blocked the victim’s vehicle from the front, stopping it in the middle of the road.

One of the suspects came to the driver’s side and pointed a gun at the victim. Three other suspects entered the suspect’s vehicle from the front and back passenger sides. The suspect on the driver’s side forced the victim out of the vehicle and searched him, taking R4 000 in cash and a Samsung Galaxy phone worth R7 000 before driving away in the victim’s vehicle, still loaded with crates of cold drinks.

The hijacked vehicle had no tracker installed and is worth R75 000.
