62 crimes reported, 43 arrests in Alex in one week

ALEXANDRA – Police have been keeping busy with 43 arrests made and 67 cases reported to the station within one week.

Alex Police Station attended to 62 reported criminal offences and arrested 43 offenders between 7 and 13 November.

Some of the suspects have appeared in court while other cases are still being investigated.

According to the station’s spokesperson, Captain Allie Kodisang, the following cases were reported:

  • 1 rape
  • 3 theft from heavy truck
  • 2 theft from motor vehicles
  • 11 general theft.
  • 2 motor vehicle hijackings
  • 5 residential burglaries
  • 2 business burglaries
  • 2 business robberies 2 robberies with firearms
  •  1 common robbery
  • 1 fraud
  • 8 malicious damage to property
  • 5 assaults with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
  • 17 common assaults.

The following arrests were made:

  • 1 for murder
  • 1 rape
  • 6 assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm
  • 2 shoplifting
  • 8 common assaults
  • 4 malicious damage to property
  • 1 residential burglary
  • 5 drug use and possession of drugs
  • 1 drunken driving
  • 2 possession of suspected stolen property
  • 1 possession of unlicensed firearm, and ammunition
  • 1 general theft
  • 1 fraud.
