A run for life

ALEXANDRA – Unprovoked motorist in custody for pointing gun at pedestrians.

Two Alex men ran for their lives after a male motorist who was apparently not provoked, allegedly pointed a gun at them.

The incident occurred at about midday on 5 April this year in Eastbank as the men were walking along a street.

The 28-year-old suspect, also from Alex, was remanded in custody by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court pending the conclusion of an investigation.

He was arrested by police in the township on the same day of the crime while driving around. A gun with five bullets was found in his vehicle, as well as some white powder suspected to be drugs.

The victims reported that the suspect first passed them and stopped further ahead. As they got closer to his vehicle, the suspect allegedly got out, opened the boot, took out a gun and, without a word, pointed it at them, causing them to flee.

The men managed to take note of the vehicle’s description and the man’s features which they passed on to police, leading to the suspect’s arrest.
