Scorned wife allegedly burns hubby with hot water

ALEXANDRA – Husband accused of infidelity in hot water.

A nurse from 14th Avenue in Alex was remanded in custody by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court pending further investigation for the alleged attempted murder of her 41-year-old husband.

The 31-year-old accused, who has three children with the victim, allegedly poured hot water on the victim on the night of 30 July, causing extensive burns to his body.

The court heard that after returning from work, the accused, who is said to be the sole breadwinner, found her husband absent. She found him at a neighbour’s home drinking alcohol.

When he came home, the couple argued with her complaining that he disrespected her, was drunk and had been flirting with other women. Before the victim could answer, the accused allegedly poured hot water on him, forcing him to flee.

He collapsed outside the home and neighbours took him to the Alex Clinic for treatment but he was transferred to Edenvale Hospital and then Baragwanath Hospital due to the severity of his burns.

The victim’s sister reported the incident to the police, leading to the accused’s arrest. The sister further claimed that the accused sometimes beat and stabbed the victim.
