Men wanted for damaging wrong car

ALEXANDRA – Police hunt for men heard saying they damaged the wrong car.

 

Alex police are investigating a case of malicious damage to property by unknown suspects who were overheard saying they had damaged the wrong vehicle.

Police spokesperson Lieutenant Allie Kodisang said the incident occurred at about midnight on 23 July after the complainant of 10th Avenue in Alex parked his Opel Corsa Lite along 5th Avenue at 9pm. When he returned at midnight, he found a group of people surrounding the vehicle which had all its windows broken. A witness informed the complainant that the windows were broken by male occupants of a white BMW which stopped next to his vehicle. The witness said one of the men was overheard saying they had damaged the wrong vehicle. The damage was estimated at R30 000.

The BMW’s registration had been taken down and was given to the police.
