ALEXANDRA – Hijackers stop taxi for their victim

Two armed hijackers saved their victim from having to walk by giving him R20 and stopping a taxi for him to board before disappearing in his work vehicle.

The suspects are wanted by the police for the hijacking of his Kia bakkie which hasn’t been found.

The hijackers pounced on the victim, who works in Wendywood, at about 3pm on 18 July while he was stopped at the corner of 1st and Chadwick streets, Wynberg. Police spokesperson Lieutenant Allie Kodisang said one of them, armed with a gun, approached the victim from the driver’s side, opened the door and ordered him to move to the middle of the front seat. His accomplice entered the vehicle from the passenger side, sandwiching the victim in the middle. The suspects drove with the victim and dropped him on 20th Avenue in Alex after stopping a taxi and giving him the money to board it.

They also searched his pockets and took his Samsung cellphone and R100 in cash.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing.
