UJW thrilled about support for its ‘Catch the Cavity’ drive

JOHANNESBURG – The Union of Jewish Women is thrilled about the overwhelming support for its Mandela Day campaign.

The Union of Jewish Women (UJW) said it is thrilled that in addition to the thousands of dental products that they are collecting to donate to pre-primary and primary school children as part of Mandela Day, Colgate will also donate 5 000 packs containing toothpaste, toothbrushes and educational material on dental health.

This year, to commemorate Mandela Day, all branches of the UJW across the country – in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, East London and Pretoria – will be presenting toothbrushes and toothpaste to thousands of young children at disadvantaged pre-primary and primary schools.

Dental care is vital for the health of children, and the union believes that by supplying as many packs as possible to as many children as possible, this will help them to grow into healthy young adults. Many of the recipients have never had their own toothbrushes.

“In addition, oral hygienists will attend some of the schools to give advice on dental hygiene. UJW is extremely grateful to Colgate for assisting with this very worthwhile project,” said Cindy Kree of UJW in Johannesburg.

The union has been participating in Mandela Day since its inception and, once again, there is a lot of excitement around this year’s project.

The UJW is also grateful to the public and to those schools who have so generously donated items, and also extends a warm thank you to everyone for helping to help those who are so in need.
