Man gets bail for murder of a friend

ALEXANDRA - Read up on the story of a man who stabbed his friend, receives bail and now awaits trial.

A Tsutsumani man is out on bail of R1 500 awaiting trial by the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court for the murder of his friend.

The court heard that both the accused and the deceased, Zikiswa Vava, spent the night drinking at a tavern with two other friends on 27 September last year.

At 5am the following morning, the suspect and Vava left the tavern with some beer to continue drinking at the deceased’s residence.

While drinking at the friend’s house, the deceased allegedly slapped the accused across the face and when the accused asked why he did this, the deceased allegedly didn’t answer. The accused was said to have then gone to his home nearby and on arrival back at his friend’s house with another friend, Vava allegedly opened the door when they knocked.

After entering, the accused allegedly chased the deceased around the house and outside, thereafter allegedly stabbing Vava multiple times in the back until he collapsed.

Transport was arranged and took the victim to the nearby clinic where he was transferred to a hospital and died on 6 October.

The case continues.
