Players found guilty of double signings

JOBURG – The Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee has found that two players contravened the league's rules by signing two contracts with two different clubs covering the same period of time.

The Premier Soccer League Disciplinary Committee has found that two players contravened the league’s rules by signing two contracts with two different clubs covering the same period of time.

Siyabonga Zulu, now with Platinum Stars from relegated AmaZulu, is said to have also signed a contract with Orlando Pirates for the same period as that of Stars.

Pirates then disputed Zulu’s move to Stars and the matter ended up with the committee, which found him guilty and undertook to have a written sentence within seven days after hearing evidence in mitigation.

The player has been charged with contravening Rule 37 of the National Soccer League after he signed the two contracts.

Another player who, for the second time, also signed two contracts with different teams, also over the same period of time, Veli Mothwa, a goal minder now at Chippa United, was found guilty by the same committee and fined R20 000.

He, too, had been charged with contravening Rule 37 of the NSL after he had signed two contracts with Polokwane City and Chippa United.

A year ago, Mothwa was fined R50 000, R25 000 of which was suspended for a year for a similar case when the player moved from Limpopo side, Baroka FC to Chippa United.
