GP and German state in green partnership bid

JOBURG – The Gauteng government is set to collaborate with Germany’s state of Lower Saxony in partnership on renewable energy projects.

 

Gauteng MEC for Finance, Barbara Creecy, led discussions with the Deputy Minister of Environmental Affairs, Energy and Climate Protection in the German State of Lower Saxony, Stefan Wenzel. The discussions centred around possible partnerships on renewable energy, freight, logistics and education between the two.

Creecy said Lower Saxony was renowned for its advanced renewable energy projects, freight and logistics activities. She said, “We are delighted to host the Lower Saxony delegation in our province at the time when we are exploring energy solutions to fuel Gauteng’s growth. As we implement our energy projects, it will be important to collaborate with experts in the sector.”

The German delegation, consisting of 52 members, is currently in Gauteng to explore trade and investment opportunities in the areas of green economy, education and technology transfer. Wenzel said, “Our delegation is made up of researchers and experts in our areas of common interest, we are confident that our engagements with Gauteng will result in long lasting economic relations.”
