My Most Beautiful pet winner revealed

JOHANNESBURG – The winner of the My Most Beautiful pet competition was revealed over the weekend and the owner of the lucky pooch scooped up a prize of R50 000.

Sheeba, a Jozi-born and bred doberman cross dachshund got her paws on the grand prize. Owner of the winning pooch, Wayne Madibo stated that his dog was the most beautiful because “she is calm and loves children, and she is a wonderful presence around the home”.

Dogs reportedly dominated the top 10, as Sheeba was closely followed by runner-up Xena, a dachshund from Frankfort, who won R15 000, and Tinka the beagle from Potchefstroom who came in third place. Arthur, who was the only winning cat, placed 10th out of the finalists.

A portion of the profits made by entrees and friends sending SMS’s to vote for the most beautiful animal was donated to Tears, a Cape Town-based charity which rescues, rehabilitates, reunites and rehomes lost and abandoned animals. Tears also educates communities about the correct treatment of animals, and www.mymostbeautiful.com is sure that the donations will support the charity in reaching and helping even more animals in distress.

A testament to their work is the story of Stoney, a Tears rescue dog who placed fourth in the My Most Beautiful pet competition. Stoney was rescued from Vrygrond after being hit by a car, which resulted in serious damage to his legs. Even though his injuries took over a year to recover and he had to go through many surgeries, Stoney is now loving life with his adoptive family.
