ALEXANDRA - Samsung Electronics and its employees, in partnership with the Women at Work Foundation, opened a new Incubation Centre in a move to make a difference in the lives of Alexandra children.

Samsung Electronics and its employees, in partnership with the Women at Work Foundation, opened a brand new computer classroom in a bid to make a difference in the lives of children in Alexandra.

The new Samsung Technology Incubation Centre (STIC) will benefit 60 Grade 7 pupils in Alexandra as part of their contribution towards Nelson Mandela Day. The Smart School was handed over at the Central Johannesburg College (CJC) in Alexandra.

The new Incubation Centre, located at CJC and manned by five Grade 7 teachers, is equipped with 33 tablets, an electronic interactive board, technology textbooks and coding software.

In partnership with the Women at Work Foundation, the Nelson Mandela Foundation, Central Johannesburg College, Africa Teen Geeks and Stanley Inspection, 1 000 unused chairs were collected for recycling, and the steel fencing around the school also received a coat of paint.

The founder of the Women at Work Foundation, Nomsa Nkwanca, said when the foundation was started they had no idea what impact it would have on their lives and the lives of the children.
