Second online school admission delayed
JOBURG – Another delay in the GDE online admission.
It’s a further wait for parents who want to apply for their children in Gauteng schools for the 2017 academic year.
The Gauteng Department of Education’s (GDE) online admission has been delayed again. Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Education in Gauteng Panyaza Lesufi has announced on twitter that the online submission system will be delayed by a further two hours and will only go live from 10am.
Lesufi said their technical department picked up a glitch and he didn’t want to take chances.
Dear Parents
I've got a new brief now from our technicians and I have taken a conscious decision to delay the online with 2 hours.Apologies

This is because they've just finished on time without stress testing. I want to give them time to stress test first. Let me not risk

Let me assure you all, all is well. Is just that I don't want to risk. The team did well, all complaints incorporated, I just need a dry run

Dear Parents/Guardians
My team finished on time at 8am. We were ready but I felt as a leader I must be 100% sure before I press that button

I took a conscious decision to delay by 2 hrs to allow the technicians to convince all is well. I would rather delay than face a crisis

On the other hand, parents were fuming with anger, with some even suggesting that the department should drop the whole online admission system and go back to how things were done in the past.
Unfortunately No! https://t.co/U9xiA7K2ZP

@Lesufi that's really confusing. So you need 2hrs to be sure?? I can't believe you did this to us after so much confidence in the past days

Hi George, the system has never crashed, never! We only pulled it off to update. I needed to be sure as a leader https://t.co/wJL5MUCaLE
