Sponsors talk Miss Africa

JOBURG - Executive managing director and the mind behind Miss Africa brought together all the sponsors of the new pageant to discuss the plights faced by Africans and how Miss Africa will combat them.

Neo Mashishi, the creator of Miss Africa, held a conference for the proudly African pageant, where the world could meet the sponsors and find out more about their parts in it.

Hosted by DJ Buttersmooth of UJFM, the conference, which was held at Constitution Hill in Braamfontein, was a platform dedicated to introducing the numerous unknown sponsors and performers to the industry.

“We did not want to have famous celebrities as ambassadors,” explained Mashishi.

“We wanted to introduce new faces to the world and get the underground talents in Africa… known, just like how we want to promote this new and unknown pageant of Miss Africa.”

Miss Africa joins the list of only a few continental beauty pageants held around the world.

Owner and founder of KJ Creations, Khomotso Maimela, took to the podium to express the hardships faced by African women and explained that this platform, specifically for Africans, is a much-needed one.

Maimela will sponsor and design the winner’s crown and the tiaras for the two runners-up.

Planet Fitness jumped on board and gave Mashishi one year of free gym memberships for the top 25 selected ladies of Miss Africa.

The vision that Mashishi wants to promote is that of a beautiful and intellectual woman to represent Africa, but furthermore expose diverse African culture to the world.

Buyi Xaba, one of the creators of Black Opal Cosmetics, took to the podium to explain that their company, which specialises in cosmetics made especially for women of colour, is the perfect company to sponsor the African ladies who will be part of the pageant.
