The King of Blues is dead

JOBURG - After entering hospice care in Las Vegas on 1 May, blues legend, B.B. King passed away in his sleep on 14 May.

 

King, who was one of the most recognised blues musicians of his time, had a long and illustrious career in the music industry for almost seven decades.

King scooped up 15 Grammy Awards in his career and was inducted into the Rock ‘n Roll Hall of Fame and defined the era of blues, inspiring numerous acts that came after him.

King, who was affectionately known as the King of Blues, was known for always travelling with his guitar named Lucille.

His guitar playing skills were rivaled by only a few, and landed him on a list of the best guitar players of all time.

The King of Blues was fortunate enough to keep performing well into his older years, but sadly passed away at the age of 89.
