Hillsong Church makes Joburg its new home

BRAAMFONTEIN – Hillsong Church will be launching its newest campus in Braamfontein.

The opening of the campus in Braamfontein on 29 March marks the sixth one in the country, with four being situated in Cape Town and one in Pretoria.

“We are excited to join forces with a host of incredible churches already established here, to reach this city with the hopeful message of the gospel,” said lead pastor of Hillsong South Africa, Phil Dooley. “We believe in the influence of Joburg on a nation like South Africa and that the church can play a significant role in helping to rebuild our nation.”

Strategically situated in Braamfontein, within a close radius of Wits and the University of Johannesburg, the church is confident that its Friday night youth camps will flourish and continue to draw in crowds of high school pupils and university students.

“We are really passionate about the next generation and with the University of Witwatersrand right on our doorstep, we will definitely be focusing on reaching students in the surrounding areas. They are the future leaders of this country and we want to do all we can to help and encourage them,” Dooley added.

The launch of the Joburg campus will take place at the Alexander Theatre, 36 Stiemens Street, Braamfontein with services at 8.30am, 10.30am and 5 pm.
