A Cafe Ron to end off the week

JOBURG - After a long, difficult week it's best to unwind with a delicious cocktail.

Winner of the Bacardi Legacy contest in South Africa and Broadacres resident, Denzel Heath, has a concoction that will both help you relax and give you the energy to make it through the weekend.

Heath calls the drink the Cafe Ron and said it originated in New York after a very burnt-out supermodel asked a bartender to make her something that would “Pick her up and mess her up at the same time”.

It is an espresso mixed with Jamaican liqueur, Tia Maria and Bacardi Gold. The flavours of coffee and caramel make this cocktail the perfect pick-me-up and take me down.

Ingredients:

1 ½ shots Bacardi Gold

1 ½ shots Tia Maria

1 ½ shots vanilla syrup

1 ½ shots espresso

A coffee bean for garnish

Method:

1. Brew a cup of espresso.

2. Chill a small glass with ice.

3. Shake all the ingredients together in a cocktail shaker with ice.

4. Throw the ice out of the glass and pour the ingredients into the glass through a sieve.

5. Garnish the drink with a coffee bean.
