Gauteng Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation MEC, Molebatsi Bopape has expressed shock at the loss of yet another one of South Africa’s young stars, rapper Nkululeko ‘Flabba’ Habedi.

He was allegedly stabbed to death by his girlfriend at an Alex house. The girlfriend will appear in the Alexandra Magistrates’ Court on 10 March on a charge of murder.

Habedi, who was affectionately known by the name ‘Flabba’, was a seminal figure in South African hip-hop as a member of Skwatta Kamp, whose musical innovations took the genre to new heights in the country and inspired some of today’s biggest stars.

“It is heartbreaking to know that a young person with so much talent and passion has had his life taken away in such a tragic and violent way. The nation’s music fraternity has truly lost a bright light whose future potential was limitless.

“I wish to extend my sincerest and deepest condolences to Nkululeko’s family, friends and fans across the country on behalf of the Guateng provincial government,” Bopape said.
