Intense lobbying underway in Alex football circles

ALEXANDRA - Intense lobbying has already got underway in Alex football circles and names are being bandied around in terms of who will occupy the hot seat of chairperson.

Intense lobbying has already got underway in Alex football circles and names are being bandied around in terms of who will occupy the hot seat of chairperson.

Without wanting to disclose the names, secretary general of the Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association, Mafika Morajane admitted there were a number of names in the mix for chairperson and other positions.

“As we have not handed out the nomination forms, we’re not in a position to disclose those names that we’re hearing from the grapevine,” he said. “We shall wait until we are handed back the completed nomination forms and only then shall we be in a position to confirm the names.

“At present we’re not sure whether members of the association want only a few individuals changed or they want to see the executive changed en masse.”

Meanwhile, Morajane said the National Lotteries Board had donated 17 sets of jerseys to be handed out to U17 players of Alex clubs that played last season. This would take place at the finals of the Ntate Molepo Tournament on 11 and 12 April at the Alexandra Stadium, he said.

“We’re grateful to the lotteries board for believing in Alex football and for making this donation for the second year running. It shows there is something we’re doing right, and that our books are clean and well audited as per requirement for funding,” Morajane said.
