A man is in custody pending a court appearance for alleged car theft.
Police arrested him in Alex after he was seen driving suspiciously, and when they stopped him he could not prove ownership of the vehicle, a white Toyota Hilux. The dashboard of the vehicle had been partially stripped.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Manare Ramotshela said the vehicle was traced to the owner who at the time wasn’t aware of the theft. He had to verify ownership of the vehicle at the Alex Police Station. The car had been stolen from a public parking place.
Ramotshela appealed to motorists to be more careful of where they parked their vehicles.
