Sponsor injects muscles into Mighty Heroes

ALEXANDRA - Mighty Heroes Football Club is set to become a force to reckon with in the new 2015 season of the local football calendar which begins later this month.

Alexandra’s Mighty Heroes Football Club is set to become a force to be reckoned with in the new year following the club’s acquisition of a sponsor.

The club will be sponsored by Malandela Industrial Engineers which is owned by Ekurhuleni businessman and Wits University industrial engineer, Simon Dlamini.

Club chairperson Themba Ngema said the club would now be called Malandela Mighty Heroes. Ngema was speaking at the annual awards ceremony of the team at the end of the season last December. He said the holding of the awards ceremony had not always been possible due to lack of finance.

“I am happy today to announce that we have secured financial sponsorship from a leading Ekurhuleni business, Malandela Industrial Engineers, which is owned by a former son of Alexandra, Simon Dlamini,” he said.

“Since his arrival, we have managed to institute a number of changes in the administration of the club, one of which is the introduction of the practice of attending camps for our players before their matches.

He added that the camps fosterered professionalism, discipline, unity and brotherly spirit among the players. “It takes them off the streets and away from mischief, alcohol and other substance abuses,” Ngema said.

“We hope this will all translate into the club becoming a force to be reckoned with in the new season of local football.”

Dlamini, who regards himself as a son of Alex, said his parents and other close family members had properties in 7th, 16th and 17th avenues and owned a church. “I am so passionate about Alex and its football and my company would like to make a difference in the lives of young footballers in this historic township,” he said.

“My dream is to see this team develop and becoming a force to be reckoned with in Alex football. I also would like to see the team move up the ladder of football until it reaches the ultimate in football, which is the prestigious Premier Soccer League.”
