Clinic signs X-ray machine service deal

ALEXANDRA - A local clinic has entered into a service deal with a Midrand-based company to ensure that its new baby, the Shimadzu x-ray machine, is well-catered for.

The Alexandra Health Centre and University Clinic has entered into a service deal with a Midrand-based company to ensure that its new baby, the Shimadzu X-ray machine, is well-catered for.

Clinic CEO Labane Maluleke said he had signed the service deal with Axim, short for Africa X-Ray Industrial & Medical (Pty) Ltd, which sourced both the ageing machine and the Shimadzu from Japan and the company is behind the more than 15 years of service given to the clinic by the old X-ray machine.

“When we issued a tender for the X-ray machine, we received three offers. Axim came at R1,2 million, the second company was more than triple that of Axim while the third double that of the second.

“We finally decided to stick with Axim as we have worked with them for several years and know their service track record and capabilities. They are just a call away and whenever we need them, we just shout and they come running,” Maluleke said.

Axim’s project manager Sam Cserei said besides sourcing the machine, his company also designed and rebuilt a dilapidated house in the clinic grounds and turned it into a modern X-ray room that now houses the state-of-the-art machine, including another room that houses the ‘old madala’ [old X-ray machine].

Industrial Development Corporation’s corporate social investment manager Tebogo Molefe said the corporation was more than gratified to have been of service to the clinic and its close to a million residents who beat a path daily to the clinic.

“I will convey your messages of gratitude to my seniors and colleagues and hope this is but one of many more partnership between ourselves and the clinic,” Molefe said in reply to Maluleke’s expression of indebtedness to the corporation for funding the purchase of the X-ray machine.
