Radio station manager suspended

ALEXANDRA - Local radio station manager Sekgale Mokgotsi has been suspended in just three months after taking the reins.

Alex FM radio station manager Sekgale Mokgotsi has been suspended in just three months after taking the reins.

The station’s chairperson of the Board of Trustees, Zwelibanzi Ndlovu, said Mokgotsi had been suspended amid allegations of financial irregularities. He was officially suspended on 28 November and Sibongile Mpanza has been tasked with the responsibility of running the station in his absence.

Ndlovu said a task team led by Bongani Mandita has been formed to look into the allegations that could possibly lead to formulation of charges for a disciplinary hearing expected to be convened in early January.

Ndlovu would not disclose how much money was involved in the suspected irregularities, but the station has been rocked by its fair share of problems in the past since inception in 1995 involving various station managers.

Mokgotsi, a former manager at Metro FM, Kaya FM and Motsweding FM, took over the reigns of the station in late August if not early September following the departure of young and dynamic manager, Trinity Mohlamme, who took over from then manager David Slovo.
