Mob attacks man after making advances to his girlfriend

ALEXANDRA - A group of men beat up another man after making advances to his girlfriend on Martin Mabitsela Street in Ext. 8.

A group of men attacked a man after they made advances to the victim’s girlfriend on Martin Mabitsela Street in Ext. 8.

Alex police spokesperson Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said the victim was walking home with his girlfriend on Martin Mabitsela Street when they were approached by a group of men.

One of the men is said to have tried to speak to the victim’s girlfriend who refused to entertain the advances. The victim then intervened but was verbally abused.

One of the attackers then tried to stab the victim. Police arrived at the scene and after calming people down, escorted the victim and his girlfriend home.

After the police had left the victim’s home, the group of men arrived and attacked the victim using a hammer, bricks and a baseball bat. The victim managed to grab the bat from one of the men and used it to fend off the attackers.

The police are said to have arrived on the scene again and arrested two suspects, while the others ran away. The arrested suspects will appear in the Alexandra Magistrates Court soon on a charge of assault with intent to commit grievous bodily harm.
