A skills empowerment project was conducted in Alexandra to give the youth much needed skills to participate in the economy of the country.

Global Satellite Services Provider, SES, in partnership with free-to-air broadcaster OpenView HD, kicked off its Elevate Installer Training programme for Alex TV installers in Alexandra.

The training forms part of a countrywide SES initiative to equip OpenView HD satellite dish installers with the skills to help develop South Africa’s broadcast industry, and ensure that all OpenView HD subscribers receive quality digital television in their homes.

Through its collaborative skills development programme, SES is assisting OpenView HD to grow its business and its pool of accredited installers, while OpenView HD is helping Alex TV to grow its business by ensuring quality installations.

Ibrahima Guimba-Saidou of SES said, “The SES programme helps our broadcast customers grow their business in Africa. In partnership with OpenView HD, the programme has rolled out across South Africa and trained over 100 installers last month, who in turn can now provide training to junior technicians.”

Alex TV, the official television channel of Alexandra was launched in May this year and is available on OpenView HD.
