Father killed, son wounded in attempted hijacking

MARLBORO GARDENS - A father was shot and killed in an attempted hijacking in Marlboro Gardens at 7.15pm on 14 August.

Sandton police spokesperson Captain Kym Cloete said the father (52) had just collected his son (20) from the Marlboro Gautrain Station and they were driving through Marlboro Gardens.

At the corner of Laduma and Lennon roads, they were accosted by two suspects who fired shots through the door and window of the victims’ vehicle.

The father died on the scene and the son was taken to hospital for treatment.

Cloete said Alex police were investigating the case of murder and attempted murder and urged anyone with information to contact the police or Crime Line.
