One Heart Festival marks 125 years for school

JOBURG - Sacred Heart College will be celebrating 125 years of heritage on 24 September with a 'One Heart Music Festival'.

Sacred Heart College will be celebrating 125 years of heritage on 24 September with a One Heart Music Festival.

The festival starts at 11:30am and ends at 10pm, and will feature MiCasa and other South African music stars, such as Sipho Hotstix Mabuse, Simphiwe Dana, Judith Sephuma, Paul Hanmer and Selealo Selota.

The One Heart Music Festival is named aptly. By buying a ticket, people will contribute to a cause. All profits will go to the Three2Six Project, a bridging educational programme for Grade R to Grade 6 refugee children who have been denied access to public education, and to the Field of Flowers Scholarship Fund, which provides a full scholarship for children from disadvantaged backgrounds to study at Sacred Heart College.

The festival will cater for families, teenagers, students and music-lovers of all ages. Pupils from Sacred Heart College will showcase their talents in music, ballet, karate and gymnastics. The morning event will be fun for the entire family, with jumping castles and other activities for children.

There will be a variety of food stalls available all day. The well-known South African musicians will be performing from 2pm until 6pm. A ‘U-Party’, featuring MiCasa and DJ Rikay, will start at 6pm. This evening event is primarily for the youth, but anyone young at heart may attend.

Heritage Day (24 September) is also National Braai Day. Sacred Heart College, along with the sponsoring schools and companies involved, will have a National Braai Day Challenge to see who can make the most wors rolls and deliver them to charities.

The rolls will be delivered to charities in Johannesburg by a courier partner throughout the day.

A limited number of Early Bird tickets (R150) are available at Sacred Heart College.
