City housing cleans up on Mandela Day

Staff members of the Joburg Social Housing Company spent Mandela Day at Botlhabela village in East Bank.

The staff teamed up with residents and service providers, Kya Guards and Sphandile Group to clean up litter, attend to plumbing problems and security queries.

The company’s executive manager, Cheryl Holmes said this community engagement was to learn of challenges faced by its beneficiaries. “We will take back to the office the challenges raised by the residents, for integration into our planning as a continual process of improving our services to Joburg residents through the city’s housing scheme,” she said.

Nolo Kwatubana of Sphandile group which provides integrated housing services such as construction, cleaning and security said, “Our services also provide the residents an opportunity to sub-contract with us for other services in construction and housing management industry. In the process, we will contribute to their small businesses development and skills in the construction, cleaning and housing management industry.”
