Emerging bands called for auditions

Emerging bands in Alexandra are invited to audition for the Puisano Live Music programme.

The 2014/15 Puisano Live music programme kicks off in June, and unsigned and up-and-coming bands in Alexandra and other parts of Gauteng are called upon to jump at the chance to move their careers a notch up.

Organised as part of the June Youth Month programme by the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, the Puisano programme is aimed at selecting top bands to promote live music performances in communities, while also offering the bands market penetration and opportunities to tour the province.

Bands selected through the audition process will participate in a range of live performances billed to take place at venues across the province until 2015.

Interested groups should meet the following criterion: consist of no less than four members; band members should be between the age of 18 and 35; out of school; be based in Gauteng and not signed to any recording company.

They should also have not received formal or informal music training, and have not previously participated in Puisano in the past three years as individuals or band members.

Auditions will take place at Mueum Africa in Newtown, Johannesburg on 8 June or Germiston City Hall in Germiston.
