Alex football warns clubs against ‘age cheating’

ALEXANDRA - The Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association has warned its affiliated clubs against the dangers of practicing age cheating when registering their players.

The Alexandra Northrand Local Football Association has warned its affiliated clubs against the dangers of practising ‘age cheating’ when registering their players.

The warning was sounded by the association’s secretary general Mafika Morajane, who said although no clubs had been caught practising age cheating, the warning was a precautionary measure that was issued by the mother body, the South African Football Association, meant to be relayed down to club level.

Morajane warned that culprits caught practicing age cheating will be severely dealt with. “The association hereby reminds all its affiliates, more especially juniors, that at no stage will the association condone age cheating.”

“If any of our affiliates are found guilty of this practice, the affected club or clubs could be expelled from the association and the league and club owners could face a possibility of being banned for life from football,” Morajane warned.
