Eighteen-year-old golfer Sphiwe Selepe proudly represented Lyndhurst, securing third place in the challenging Road to Steyn City tournament finals.

The eighteen-year-old golfer from Lyndhurst represented his community with pride on a demanding golf course that tested the mettle of all competitors.

“I am very proud of myself, and my four ballers, to have secured the third position in such a tough course with lots of challenges.

“My putting was the most difficult part for me. I want to improve on it and work harder to better myself,” Selepe said.

He humorously noted that while attempting to cross water hazards, he lost a few golf balls, highlighting the difficulties that players faced throughout the tournament.

Despite the challenges, Selepe expressed gratitude for the unforgettable experience. “My team and I had a lot of fun that day and it was a great experience for me.

“I got to sleep at a hotel, thanks to Itu Golf Wear, and we had an amazing dinner at Montecasino the day before the last tournament.”

Selepe also received generous gifts during the tournament, which included a new pair of golf shoes, a full set of golf clothes from FJ Footjoy, and a customised equipment golf bag featuring his initials. “I’m thankful for these gifts; they motivate me to keep pushing towards my goals,” he added.

In his journey, Selepe aims to inspire others while continuing to chase his dreams. “Never give up on your dream, no matter where you come from. Anything is possible,” he urged aspiring golfers.

Looking ahead, Selepe’s ambitions extend beyond local tournaments. “In the coming years, I see myself as a professional golfer, competing in big tournaments and touring around the world.”
