Sizakele Mota crowned Queen of Miss Alexandra Heritage 2024 Senior Citizen

At a well attended event at the East Bank Hall in Alexandra, Sizakele Mota was crowned Queen of the Miss Alexandra Heritage 2024 Senior Citizen beauty pageant, among others who won in their respective categories.

East Bank Hall was abuzz with excitement and tears of joy flowed down the cheeks of the various Miss Alexandra Heritage 2024 Senior Citizen contestants when the final of the pageant was concluded on September 30.

Sizakele Mota (71) was crowned queen of the contest of the elderly ladies, while Mapula Morudi (72) came in as first princess, proving that age is no barrier to beauty and ambition.

The annual pageant, dedicated to celebrating the rich culture and heritage of Alexandra, turned into a heartfelt tribute to the wisdom and vitality of its elders.

With an enthusiastic audience in attendance, Mota illuminated the stage with her confident presence, swiftly capturing the hearts of the judges.

Upon receiving her title, Mota expressed her gratitude and hopes. “I joined this pageant in 2022 and unfortunately did not win. Last year I couldn’t be part of the pageant due to various reasons.

“I then came back this year and I was doing the practise with the young ones at the heritage centre and I was the only elderly there.

“I still can’t believe I am crowned Miss Alexandra Heritage Senior Citizen queen but I am excited that all my hard work and the practise paid off after so many tries,” Mota said.

Mota shared the words of encouragement to the contestants who did not make it to win the pageant.

“To those who did not make it, I would like to tell them to never look back but they should learn from their mistakes and also be friends with practising. I believe that where there is love, there is hope and a brighter future so they should also join in next year’s pageant,” Mota said.

Morudi, crowned as first Princess, said, “this is a beautiful celebration of who we are. I am proud to represent my peers and show that we have so much to offer. Age is just a number, and we can continue to shine brightly.”

The event not only highlighted the exceptional beauty of its contestants but also emphasised the significance of cultural heritage and community involvement.

With poignant speeches, heartfelt performances, and captivating outfits, the evening became a vibrant celebration of Alexandra’s legacy, focusing on the strength and empowerment of its senior citizens.

The pageant also featured the crowning of the Mr and Miss Alexandra Heritage 2024 king and queen and Little king and queen, where talented youth dazzled the audience with their poise and presentation.

Tshepiso Malatjie was crowned queen of Mr and Miss Alexandra Heritage 2024, with Kgothatso Phaswana crowned as the first princess and Precocious Chauke as the second princess.

Donald Tladi was crowned king of Mr and Miss Alexandra Heritage 2024, Koketso Baloyi came in as the first prince and Mzwakhe Maseko was the second prince.

Malatjie said, “I am excited to have been crowned the queen because I have been in this pageant [Mr and Miss Alexandra Heritage] for five years and I have been fighting so hard to get this crown.

“To my peers, I would like to leave them with a message that when you want something, never give up, show love for the things you want and bear in mind that your culture will always represent you and tell your story.”

Tladi said, “it was not easy for me to get this crown because I prepared my things late and I didn’t even have a proper suit and traditional attire but because of God’s powers I made it and I am honoured for that.

“What I want to tell my peers is that do not follow your dreams, chase them, because when you follow them you will follow them forever.”

In Mr and Miss Alexandra Heritage Little, king was awarded to Lihle Mba with Nompilo Ntuli was crowned the queen, Polosho Moshobane was awarded the first princess and Lesedi Mokgosing the second princess.
