Traffic alert: Road closures for Springbok vs All Blacks at Emirates Airline Park

As the Springboks prepare to face the All Blacks, fans should be aware of road closures and transportation options during the event at Emirates Airline Park.

Excitement is building in Johannesburg for the upcoming rugby match between South Africa’s Springboks and New Zealand’s All Blacks at Emirates Airline Park. To accommodate fans and traffic flow, significant road closures will be enforced from 22:00 on August 30, to 22:00 on August 31.

Rea Vaya bus services during the event

The City of Johannesburg’s Rea Vaya Bus Rapid Transit system will operate normally on match day. Here are some key details:

1. Trunk (T1) Service running from Thokoza Park Rea Vaya station to Emerald Airlink Park between 05:00 and 19:00.
2. Complimentary (C1) Service operational from Dobsonville Integrated Public Transport Interchange to the corner of Voorhout & Princess Streets from 05:00 to 19:00.
3. Both services will pick up and drop off at Ellis Park East Rea Vaya Station and at the intersection of Voorhout and Princess Streets.
4. Buses are expected to run every 15 minutes, starting at 09:00 until the final departure at 19:00.
5. A single trip card is available for R30.00 at all Rea Vaya stations, along with standard distance-based smart cards.
6. An on-site representative will assist at the Venue Operations Centre for the event duration.
7. Designated lanes for Rea Vaya buses will be strictly enforced, preventing access from other public transit options.
