“The Jukskei River was once a lively waterway ideal for swimming and fishing but has fallen victim to years of waste dumping and pollution. Our goal is simple yet profound – we want the river to breathe again.

“We seek to turn it back into a clean and healthy mass body of water to be enjoyed by the community. We will not only clean the river. but combat the pollution affecting the Orange River as the Jukskei is a joining river.”

A Re Kganyeng Leseding Development Initiatives life coach Lesego Ntlhane urges Setswetla residents to join forces and tidy up the Jukskei River.

Ntlhane highlighted the pressing concerns faced by the community in Setswetla, an area notorious for being a dumping ground for various types of debris. “The smell from the decaying rubbish impacts the residents’ daily lives. It’s not just an environmental issue; it’s a matter of public health.

“After the clean-up campaign, we are committed to maintaining the area. We plan to clean daily as long as we have the resources to support this effort,” she said.

Ntlhane encourages everyone to lend a hand in this transformative effort, emphasising that teamwork is essential for success.

“If we all come together we can create a stronger, cleaner and healthier community for ourselves and future generations. Let’s be the change we wish to see.”

Residents are encouraged to join the clean-up, bringing gloves, trash bags and a spirit of community to revive the Jukskei River and reclaim the beauty of their environment.

“Let’s take a stand against pollution and show our commitment to a healthier, cleaner future.”
